I'm teaching a content course on English in Technology next semester.

I'm looking for some good ideas to present technology and how students can use English when discussing it, etc. I've got several ideas, but wonder if anyone has any good ones I might not have thought of.

For example, I'll have students go to a headphone shop and write a comparison between 2 or 3 sets of headphones.

In another class, we'll rip computer apart and discuss the parts. Students will have to build their own computer, based on specs/needs and a budget using English sites.

Any other ideas?

Teach them the differences between Korean and English emoticons (I know, it's more fun than educational, but you don't have to make a whole lesson out of it).

Open source software (i.e. Linux) can be taught using Live CD's. Teach them how to use a word processor, spreadsheet, data base (i.e. access) properly. Lots of interesting open source multimedia applications out there too.

Thanks for the comments.

I ended up getting 5 used computers from my school, and we'll be tearing those apart while studying English terms and phrases associated with such. I also came up with several other fun ideas.

Much appreciated.
