As a former lurker on this forum, I understand that some individuals do not have a great impression of HandsKorea but it is the recruiter that my TESL company Oxford Seminars relies on. I have recently received an offer from JLS through HandsKorea and there were a few red flags for me so I was wondering if you guys could give me some tips.

1. The contract was entirely in Korean, although they specified that they were looking for Korean-American individuals, my Korean is quite poor, especially my reading and writing. They recommended I use my mother to translate it to me, but her English is not that strong and she is not very comfortable translating/reading through a Korean contract.

2. They did not include flight and housing in the contract. When asked about it, they told me they would reimburse me for the flight and would place me in a dorm with other english teachers. Also they did send me an e-mail prior to the contract which was just an outline explaining that flight would be reimbursed and housing would be taken care of.

3. Over the phone when discussing the contract, they told me I would be in Seoul for training while my teaching job is in Busan They did not include this in the contract either.

4. The pay was 1.5 million a month with (I believe) an additional 250k for being a homeroom teacher and 250k for doing an online portion (the contract being in Korean brought confusion in this area) I'm fine with 2.0 a month as long as flight and housing is included (I know i'm paying utilities)

I talked to Oxford Seminars and mulled it over and decided I would ask for a contract in English and that they include the flight and housing. I was wondering if anyone has gone through the same process, works for JSL (would be helpful if in Busan as well), has any other tips.

One thing that gives me a red flag is that your salary is divided onto three activities. If they cancel one then does your salary go down?

And living in dorm? Haha, no,
