I'm an idiot, and I somehow lost my passport sometime in the last week. I sent my signed contract, copy of passport and all other relevant documents to my employer last week and am awaiting the Visa Issuance Number from them so I can go get my Visa from the consulate.

I will be applying for a 24hr Passport tomorrow, so I have a new one before I go to the consulate and before my flight.

Is my Visa Issuance from the employer tied to my old (lost) passport number? Will getting a new passport now mess up the Visa process?

I hope someone can help me with this!

Your replacement passort will have the same passport number. And passport will indicate that it is a replacement for the lost one. You should not have any problem.

Passport having the same number? I'd think that depends on the country. Every replacement US passport I've seen has a unique number; however, there is a statement in the passport indicating the number of the passport it's replacing. And, yes, I've seen a fair number of replacement passports as I was a military passport agent.

I had my U.S. passport replace after losing it. I have same passport number and on the last page it indicates "This passport is a replacement for lost passport."

Thanks everyone! Smile

I'll have a new passport on Monday, and hopefully the Visa shortly after.
