I have known a few who have not been renewed, but what about actually getting fired?
I know of several people (myself included) who have been fired from hagwons but I have yet to meet a single person who has been fired from a public school job.
No I'm not worried about getting fired....ha ha.
Any stories???/Does it ever happen???
Thanks!!! |

For the typical E2 non-private schools, I am sure it doesn't happen unless there is something seriously wrong with the teacher.
There was one middle school in Ilsan that kept calling me during classes at a previous public school, and when I told them I was busy teaching (finishing up my contract with them so I could then go to the middle school), the middle school got upset because I wouldn't stop everything to talk to them.
They wanted me to write a stupid apology letter and because the "harmony" of the whole situation wasn't good, they preferred to get a female teacher.
That's the only public school I had problems with, but it was before the contract period even started. Immigration just transferred me to a third school as if it were the second. |

I know of 2 teachers who were fired from public schools. One at about the 9 month mark and one didn't complete his second month. |

Runners = Firing
I've seen many people do runners because the condition and/or treatment were horrible at their school. One school produced a runner after another. I guess the school wanted revenge against the previous runners so they really hammered it on the newbie who also did a runner. I guess you could say its PS's way of firing. |

Sure. However for PS the teacher is almost always justifiably fired.
An Irish guy who was constantly drinking late at night.
He showed up late for work after Paddy's day and his birthday.
He was shown the door. |

How late was the guy? Just curious. Was he only canned for being late twice or a bunch of other stuff? |
