Quote: |
"We believe North Korea conducted its third nuclear test," said Kim Min-seok, a spokesman for the South Korean defense ministry. He added that the magnitude of the "artificial tremor" suggested the size of the blast was in the order of 6 to 7 kilotons, more powerful than the North's two prior nuclear tests. |
What does this mean for us? Do you think the won will become weaker (as has happened in the past following North Korean provocations)? I hope not! North Korea has said they are going to launch more rockets and conduct more nuclear tests, and it looks like they are not just bluffing, but actually have the capability to do so now. |

Have we not been down this road before? Let's be thankful nothing's likely to change. Sabres will be rattled and whatnot, then put aside until the next time TPTB feel the need to rattle them again. |

The leaders of North Korea are desperately trying to remain relevant in a world that increasingly thinks they are a backward/has beens.
Yesterday's leaders, yesterday's thinking, yesterday's methods complete with yesterday's standard of living. |

i don't even click on articles about N. Korea's provocations or threats. They're empty. If they were going to bomb anyone they'd do it by now. Or maybe they are waiting to get bombed first, I don't know. But if they want to end up a desolate wasteland they'll bomb the US. That whole country would be up in smoke in 5 minutes. |

Sorry for altering your post
This is what the Polish generals said on Twitter on August 31st, 1939:

Meaning that from time to time we should check that we're still carrying a bigger stick than our neighbours. |

It can't be allowed to go on indefinitely though.
NK is getting more and more dangerous every time. At some point they have to be taken down. That will only happen though when China feels in danger. |

If they were sitting on the world's largest oil reserves like Iraq they would have been "taken down" in the name of freedom long ago. But as it stands becoming involved with them would be cost with no upside, so unlikely anyone will invest in the task. |

Let's hope the North doesn't do something like shell an island or sink a South Korean vessel. The nuclear tests have had limited effect on the won and the world but stuff like sinking ships can do damage. I remember the won going from 1,100 to the greenback to 1,300 after the Cheonan sinking in 2010. |
