Obviously, no one knows what's going on in the minds of the Norks, or even the Chinese.
While we're playing "maybe" games - I fantasize that the stability-loving Chinese could at some point decide this regime is no longer worth the trouble and pull a Hungary 1956/Czechoslovakia 1968, invading Pyongyang to install more obedient clients. As the North has most of its military deployed toward the DMZ, China could pull this off.
China invaded Vietnam in 1979 for much less. |

| The Chinese have been massing troops on the border and are building five new bridges in to the DPRK. Invasion is a possibility. But more likely is sending advisors to direct the Nork goverment and shifting its support to other leaders. Things are changing up there. Who really knows. |

interesting. I wonder if South Korea could actually man enough combat air units with their current force structure to replace US assets in the theater. The conscripts don't have a useful purpose in peace time because it's not worth the time to train them, and I don't think the benefits are good enough to get enough volunteer NCOs.

They don't have much confidence in their newer missile, and so they are opting for the surest face-saving option at their disposal: a cheaper and more reliable missile. |

Anybody remember the predicted holocaust the Iraqi army was going to reap on the Allies? Fourth largest army in the world, battle hardened, huge number of tanks, scud missiles. Oh No! |
