They shot and killed a police officer on campus.

One suspect is in custody, the other is still at large.

Watch live coverage here:

http://boston.cbslocal.com/live-video/

They have been identified. The one in custody is believed to be a Brown University student who went missing last month.

Awesome!!!!!! Are these suspects connected to the Boston Marathon? They are heavily armed and have bombs.

Thanks for the live link!

Well, looks like one is dead and the other still running. I guess the person shown on TV being arrested just looked like one of the suspects. Cops are saying one is not the missing student and they have some international links.

The news is also reporting that a police officer is in critical condition.

I bet they will be identified as "White Persians."

The media is trying very hard to make these guys look like angry white gunlovers. Same deal with the murder of the Attorney General. It was angry white supremacists who love guns.....until it turned out to be a former judge and his wife.

Source? Seems to be a whole lot of projection going on here. I've been reading the Times, Fox, the Atlantic, Slate, and Andrew Sullivan - a collection of media outlets which run the gamut in terms of political affiliation - and I've seen nothing to this effect. Are you basing your projections of "the media" on the spoutings of a few talking heads? Yes, there were questions of whether it might have something to do with tax day or Patriot's Day, but that's no different than speculating that it might have been Muslims had the event fallen on Eid.

Will post links late tonight or tomorrow when not on an android phone.

There has been a quite vocal insistence that these were "local terrorists." CNN ran an article yesterday speculating .... get this... home-grown right-wing radicals did this because pressure-cooker bombs are favored by such groups. As proof (laughingly) they quoted a 1996 pipe bomb incident.... what pipes and pressure cookers have in common, other than being used to make bombs, is anyone's guess.

Except there hasn't been any such insistence. They've speculated about every possible motive, you're just particularly sensitive to one of them.

In any case, rest easy, as Central Asian Muslim seems to be the verdict.

Hear it from CBS itself:

See 1:00-1:20 in this video, where they state everyone thought it was home-grown, etc.

http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=50145186n

I can, and will be happy to come up with many more later.

Maybe I need to depend on less legitimate news sources.

Really, guys? Are you kidding?

What's most important is not where they are from but rather if they belonged to an organized group.

With that said...

The two guys (brothers, apparently) were described by friends as "normal American kids".

Younger one attended Cambridge Latin. His buddy is on CNN right now, talking about partying with him in high school. Seems like he has a bit more of a will to live than his brother, considering he ran him over when escaping.

Yes, and their uncle is on the news as I'm typing this. He sounds very intelligent. He's overwhelmed by it all. He says their actions are incomprehensible since they moved to the US as war refugees when they were just little kids. He wishes they had never existed.

Described as terrorist and certainly chechens have comitted a lot of terror attack but those wwere in russia.

This really does not seem to fit the politically or religiously motivated types.

Just seems odd. Their target and their lack of a message afterward is different than the usual terorist attacks.

.. But at least they got one of them and are closing in on the other.
