I am traveling overland to Vietnam so I would like to get the Visa stuff figured out before hand. Also, I am on a tight schedule so I don't want to try getting one in Cambodia on my way to Vietnam, because I can't count on them to be timely. Is my only option to go to the Embassy here? I guess this might be a silly question since it is an embassy, but will they speak English or will I have better luck having a Korean helping me? |

You can pay extra to have a travel agent do it for you, or you can go yourself. The English level there is fine. Call before you go to make sure you go at the right time. I may be mis-remembering, but I think they only had certain times that they will do visa stuff. |

Thanks. I called and they only do it from 9-12 during the week. I am just going to chance it with the Embassy in Cambodia. I've heard they turn them around in 20 minutes in Sihanoukville. |

E-visas are easy. There are a number of websites that do it now. I did this in January 2012. At that time, the Hanoi airport wasn't very organized, and we ended up having to wait in a line for about 20 minutes to get the actual stamp before proceeding to immigration, but I imagine they've now sped things up. |

I agree with the other post.
Online is the fastest, quickest, and a reliable option.
It's a few dollars more, but its worth it.
I was incorrectly advised by my Korean Travel Agency that I would not need a visa. Note to self: Always double check everything!
Two days prior to my trip they send me an urgent text saying
"sah--re, my mis-take-e, u need Visa to get in, not time to get now- u angry?"
There was no time for Embassy this or that, I went into critical thinking
mode and searched the web. Much to my relief, there were many options available to get a Visa on Demand. Of course, I was skeptical at first because there has been some fraudulent activities being reported by
"fake Vietnam Visa schemes companies, but I didn't really have a choice.
My summer vacation was saved! Upon arrival in Vietnam, I went to the appropriate counter to have my Visa placed in my passport . $50usd. |
