Hey Otap,
Sorry to hear about your situation. I'm sorta in the same boat, except I'm black. Maybe we should create a support group
I have not worked in Korea before and still looking for my first job but I did find one recruiter who was actually honest and let me know I might have a problem due to my race. She sent me info for one school...I asked about it in the osungsik thread....that's me
If you like, you can pm me and I can give you the address....
Best of luck,
Alyson |

If you have a little experience, you could try some of the colleges - they will be hiring soon for second semester.
My college has hired a black South African, a bunch of Korean Americans and one Cambodian-American to teach English. |

Which kind of Asian are you, probably makes a good bit of a difference. I don't think ethnic Koreans with foreign citizenship have much of a hard time, but if you are ethnic Japanese on the other hand... |

I have friends of mine who are Black, mexican, and Asian who are working as ESL instructoes in S.K. All dpends on the school. But I think most of them are pretty much open minded. Though I have heard that some prefer if you were female, but oh well. |

Try searching for a SAT teaching position. Most SAT hagwons prefer korean americans. The hagwons also pay much better than the typical conversation geared hagwon. |

Anyone have suggestions for So. East Asian/Pacific Islander Americans? I heard that Filipino Americans have a super hard time finding work. 1st hand knowledge, anyone? |

Being a non-caucasian myself, my advice is to look into public schools. I was told that because of my race I'd have a tough time getting a private school job. I can't speak for GEPIK and SMOE, but I know that EPIK does not discriminate. |

I work for a company that hires from any ethnicity; they only ask that you're a native speaker. PM me if you're interested in getting the director's email address (he's a native speaker too). |

YBM ELS Yeoksam (often just refered to without the "ELS" -- "YBM Yeoksam")
YBM ELS Chongno (often just refered to without the "ELS" -- "YBM Chongno")
I've seen non-whites work at those two schools. |

Yes, there are non-whites teaching English there. |
