Given the history between the two countries....and with the majority of pilots being korean....well...hopefully it will work!

Or you have a convenient scapegoat should something goes wrong.

"Asiana Airlines appointed a foreign flight safety expert as an executive for the first time in its 25-year history"

It shows how poorly integrated foreigners are in this country that such an event is news.

Has nothing to do with foreigners...being poorly integrated, as you claim.
It's newsworthy for koreans!
I'd say that this was a great way to overcome the animosity that has be harbored for centuries.
Next up, having a korean in charge of a major business in Japan!

There already are Koreans (that were born in Japan) in charge of Japanese corporations. Lotte, Softbank are probably the biggest.

When I lived in Japan and saw Lotte everywhere I assumed it was a Japanese company. After arriving in Korea I was angrily corrected that Lotte is NOT a Japanese company. The founder was Korean born but started it in Tokyo and the HQ is in Seoul.
I told the angry Korean that perhaps we can consider it a multi-national company. That made her angrier.
