for those of you like myself who dont follow the local news very closely, there is a super typhoon heading through Japan at the moment and may hit us.

Won 't really affect most of the country other than Jeju and perhaps the south coast (like when Typhoon Maemi when it roared into Busan).

I love typhoons. It is Stan's time to drink beer and watch the fun. This years entertainment will be drinking beer and watching suicidal surfers riding the big waves.

As long as it continues on the projected path it will just give rain and surf to the south coast.

With sustained winds over 240 kph, if it veers more northerly it would be nasty.

I guess you weren't here when Maemi came ashore (2003).
It was a bit of a storm and the winds there were only 210 kph.

I remember Typhoon Rusa as the worst weather I've lived through.
I was living in Ulsan at the time, and I was fearful to walk outside because there was so much debris flying in the air and because of the flooding. The streets were so flooded that you had water up to your shins if you wanted to go anywhere.
