I am planning on traveling to China this fall for a few weeks and I am conflicted. I would love to travel to Lijiang, but Guilin also is appealing. Both look beautiful and I'm sure that either one would be an amazing place to visit. Unfortunately I think I can only pick one...which would you choose, those of you who have traveled China before? |

They're both beautiful. Maybe consider the weather. If you are going in a still warm period, head up to Lijiang. If it is getting cooler, stay down in Guilin. Just a thought. Lijiang is great in the cooler weather too.
There is a backpackers hangout near Guilin called Yangshuo. It was a great place. I hung out and studies Chinese there for a week. |

Thanks for the input, I think I will go to Guilin. It will be warmer and not quite as out of the way. |

Hope I am not hijacking, but I just returned from China two weeks ago. Have you thought about Luoyang and the Longmen Grottoes. They were incredible!
