There is nothing wrong with balanced criticism and proportionate news coverage.
But when you get years of disproportionate/excessive focus on Israel with a constant underlying one-sided "Israel is wrong" slant, it produces generations of dumbed-down anti-Jewish westerners. People who have never been presented with the facts or taught to think objectively about the issues. As if the age-old victimhood of jews- anti-Semitism needed any fuel.

Hate on Display: Anti-Semitism in Anti-Israel Demonstrations Across Europe
Jews attacked. Synagogues targeted. Israel demonized. These patterns of anti-Semitism were seen at many anti-Israel demonstrations around Europe this past weekend.
On Friday, a protestor in Berlin attacked an Israeli man wearing a kippah, who happened to be passing the demonstration route. The same day in Lyon, France, a protester hit a Jewish teenager in the head while yelling, “I want to kill all the Jews.” He was arrested on the spot by police. The same murderous intent was reportedly expressed in Zurich, where demonstrators chanted, “Jews into the sea!”
On Friday, in Essen, Germany, anti-Israel protesters broke off from a demonstration and headed towards a synagogue, clearly intending to attack it. Police stopped them, arrested fourteen, and charged them with conspiracy to commit a crime.
On Saturday, in Sarcelles, France, anti-Israel protesters threw a Molotov cocktail in the direction of a synagogue, but police had kept them far enough away that the firebomb did no damage. Protesters did manage, however, to burn a kosher supermarket to the ground. The same store had been attacked with an improvised grenade in 2012.
Synagogues in Italy and France were also targeted with anti-Israel banners. “Stop Bombing Gaza. Israel Assassins. Free Palestine” was hung on the synagogue in Vercelli, Italy, on July 18, and an “Israel Assassins” banner was placed on a synagogue in Lyon the next day.
While these banners would not be considered anti-Semitic at a demonstration, they are anti-Semitic when targeting the local Jewish community.
Comparing Israel to the Nazis is also anti-Semitic and prevalent at anti-Israel demonstrations. On Friday, “Israel=Hitler” signs were held up in Brussels. In London, it was “Well Done Israel, Hitler would be Proud.” And in Dublin, Prime Minister Netanyahu is depicted as Hitler on a sign, “Wanted: Zio Nazi”.
On Sunday in Amsterdam, one protester took demonization quite literally: “Stop Sionist [sic] Demons in Gaza.”

Assad has killed 180 000 civilians- women and children.
Why no global protests against assad, or in support of innocent Syrian women and children? The world couldn't care less. |
You are all over the place. Are we talking about America or Europe? Does the Arab press have a bias against Israel over Assad, of course. Most of these protestors are from Muslim countries, and probably aren't consuming mainstream western media anyways. I have not seen any mainstream western reports supporting Hamas, and you are leaving out all the reporting supporting Israel's position.
As an aside, interesting piece on how Israel helped create Hamas as a way to counter the PLO.

Still, why is the media even bothering to focus on a minor squabble in Palestine when Ukranian army is indiscriminately killing civilians with unguided missiles?

Ukraine: Unguided Rockets Killing Civilians
Stop Use of Grads in Populated Areas
July 24, 2014
(Donetsk) – Unguided Grad rockets launched apparently by Ukrainian government forces and pro-government militias have killed at least 16 civilians and wounded many more in insurgent-controlled areas of Donetsk and its suburbs in at least four attacks between July 12 and 21, 2014, Human Rights Watch said today.
The use of indiscriminate rockets in populated areas violates international humanitarian law, or the laws of war, and may amount to war crimes.

The Ukranian army has forced 200 000 ethnic Russians to flee their homes and become refugees.

Ukraine is a far bigger crisis than Gaza. yet all the media coverage and protests and anger is once again, reserved for Israel. |

Yes, what Kuros said. This type of look-over-thereism is a really cynical way to distract people. Should people care more about the other tragedies, sure, does that mean people should ignore Israeli actions and their consequences, of course not. Also, as supposed allies of Israel who support them in myriad ways we have a special responsibility for Israel's actions that we just don't have for Assads, so we should pay more attention and should be more critical. Save your anger and name calling for somewhere else, you are doing your cause no favors here. |

I was talking about in the world, not on daveslcafé.
I already shown that across the globe there have been anti-Israel protests and numerous acts of anti-Semitism.
Yet nothing like a similar response to the far greater crimes happening in Syria or elsewhere.
If people and the western media really cared about kids there would be outrage at the fact Ukraine is randomly shelling residential areas. There ain't.
Because there is a historic and ever-present core of hateful racist hypocrites that have a selective victimization of one particular ethnicity-Jews. Be aware of it, don't encourage it. |

Given that you are pointing out that their missiles are widely inaccurate I wonder how you (or anyone else) make the claim that they are targeting IDF soldiers. |

I think Kuros was reasonably clear in the way he distinguished Hamas' tunnel attacks from its missile attacks. If you want to attack him for something, attack the fact that he chose to use a link from the painfully-lagging Huffington post to defend his point. Seriously, my laptop may be getting a bit old, but no other website rapes it the way the Huffington Post does. It took me nearly a full minute just to close the window, and the site hadn't finish loading yet! |

Why not, when they use UN schools as rocket launch pads? Missiles have a return address. |

Sometimes, Hamas rockets have a "Failed to launch - Return to Sender" stamped on them when they fall back down to Palestine.
Is there a news article out there where the UN condemns Hamas for using schools to launch rocket attacks and store their ammunition? |

The United Nations has found troves of rockets hidden in three of its schools since the conflict began. “We condemn the group or groups who endangered civilians by placing these munitions in our school,” Chris Gunness, spokesman for the U.N. Relief and Works Agency, said in statement published Wednesday by the Times of Israel. “This is yet another flagrant violation of the neutrality of our premises. We call on all the warring parties to respect the inviolability of U.N. property.”
Earlier this month, the United Nations also found rockets piled inside one of its vacant schools — near other schools used to accommodate displaced people.
The international organization also found 20 additional rockets at another of its schools during an inspection, calling it one more “flagrant violation of the inviolability” of the premises.
During one short-lived lull in rocket fire, The Washington Post’s William Booth saw a “group of men” at a mosque in northern Gaza. They said they had returned to clean up glass from shattered windows. “But they could be seen moving small rockets into the mosque,” Booth wrote. He also reported that Shifa Hospital in Gaza City had “become a de facto headquarters for Hamas leaders, who can be seen in the hallways and offices.”
According to longtime Middle East analyst Matthew Levitt, Hamas has long planted weapons in areas inhabited by vulnerable residents. “It happens in schools,” he wrote in Middle East Quarterly. “Hamas has buried caches of arms and explosives under its own kindergarten playgrounds,” referencing a 2001 State Department report that said a Hamas leader was arrested after “additional explosives in a Gaza kindergarten” were discovered.

Thanks for the link.
It is interesting that the article reports on a UN official condemning "these groups" past actions of storing munitions in UN schools but I've yet to hear a UN official on CNN explaining about why Israel may be unfortunately targeting their schools. |

If you lived in Gaza you would too. The Arabs can not win a conventional war so they're working on a media war. |

It's so ironic that Europeans are so anti Israeli considering it was their centuries of discrimination and poor treatment capped by the holocaust that drove them all there to found their own country in the first place. The hatred is alive and well.
I'd say you shouldn't fire rockets into another country but that point seems lost on some people. |
