|
|
I'm thinking about buying an apple TV, but I'm getting conflicting messages about it. Some people are telling me it will work here without a VPN, as long as I have a US or Canadian itunes account (which I do have...), but others are saying it will only work for streaming with a VPN service (which I do not have... I can get one, but obviously, it would be an additional cost to consider).
Does anyone have an apple TV who can give me a definitive answer?
Thanks! |

You will need a VPN for most of the services like Netflix, Hulu+, etc.
You will NOT need a VPN for the iTunes services (so long as your iTunes account is US based), like TV, movies, radio, etc.
I have an Apple Tv and love it. To get around the restrictions on Netflix I use http://www.unblock-us.com. It's about $5 a month and you can either put configure your router or your Apple TV to use the DNS settings. |

I use a smart dns service for all my video viewing like Netflix etc. Cheaper and doesn't slow down my traffic like vpn can. Automatic too after setup. I have mine set up through my router so it unblocks everything on my home network for all my devices. Here is what I have been using but others out there as well.
