So there is a filter blocking some Youtube videos I'd like to see. I get the message
"Content Warning
You must be 19 or older to view this video. Please confirm your age. (A Korean cell phone number will be required." So I reluctantly fill out the form with my name and cell phone number. Of course it says the info is invalid. Has anyone experienced this and found a work around. The videos in question are in no way related to sex or North Korea. They are just boxing vids for crying out loud. I know I can run a vpn but that's a big hassle for this. |

Yeah...I get that for MMA sites as well.
I use a VPN when it happens, so not sure how else to get around it.

This has nothing to do with socially or politically sensitive material
Apparently youtube has implemented this new system where if a video gets enough flags from the users as inappropriate in any way (bad language, explicit scenes, violence, etc) they will require an age verification
Fortunately there is a work around (for now):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSpU_S638ZI
In the above example link, remove watch? and replace the = with a /. The link should look like this:
https://www.youtube.com/v/CSpU_S638ZI
This should open the video in youtube's player instead of hte player embedded in the youtube website. Video will take over most of the screen and commenting will not be available.
(Note: the above is not a blocked video and has been included here only as an example. This trick should work for most blocked videos that need age verification. It is a video called All Nighter '09: Voicebox by Collegehumor)

If your browser is logged into Google account, YouTube wouldn't bother you with age verification each time, I think.
I browse all kinds of videos, but never encountered such a problem while my browser was logged in. |
