Yeah. Windows, sPaceb00k, p00pbox, and all the rest are just a bunch of data miners, thinking they are swaying us all toward the places that pay em for the crap they advertise. Don't be so stupid, or, er, paranoid...trust me, paranoia is better in this day and age. Big brother IS here. |

You know that you can just decline Windows 10's polite offers to collect your data and block counterfeit software? I put a third party recycled cartridge in my printer and I just clicked on "Yes, I want to continue using this cartridge, even though you think I shouldn't". Problem solved. |

The first thing I did after installing Windows 10 was go through the privacy settings and turn everything off or on to my liking. It wasn't exactly hard. The only thing I lost in the install process were my video card drivers and it only about ten minutes to get those set up again.
So far, I like it. On the UI side, it appears to be a cross between 8.1 and 7, which is actually what most people were clamoring for, so good on Microsoft I guess. Under the hood, it seems to be running a bit smoother than 8.1 was on my machine, and I've heard of people getting it running decently on some pretty ancient hardware. A friend of mine did run into the problem of it no longer supporting his PS2 ports, so he had to buy a USB keyboard. It's about time anyway.
I run some pretty complicated audio gear and programming IDEs, and it all survived the upgrade intact. External sound card, Csound, Audacity, Android Studio: all working without a hitch. The new command prompt is much better than the old one, and my path environment variable manual edits even survived the upgrade. I was dreading having to do a whole lot of stuff over again, and it never came to be.
My only real frustration is the Bing integration. There's a reason no one uses your crappy search engine MS. Stop trying to foist it upon people! |

Looks like W10 usage has already surpassed 5%. |
