One really nice baby/toddler backpack. Got this new from REI when we were last home in the U.S. It's been great for hiking around with my boys.

One toddler fence/gate. This has worked very well and is still in great shape. It's way too strong for toddlers to hurt it — and therefore good at keeping them safe from the kitchen or wherever you are trying to keep them from. Heads-up: the end mounts are meant to be screwed into the wall they meet. Hence your kids or pets won't ever knock it down. This isn't always easy in a Korean apartment—we ended up using a kitchen cabinet and a door jamb as end points, because they were wood and easy to screw into.

One baby nap mattress. This was really useful for our kids in their first year – it's concave shape keeps them comfortably in place, so you can park them pretty much anywhere in the house while they nap.
