This is a discussion forum and resource center for teachers and prospective teachers from all over the world.

This forum is not any one member’s personal playground. It is not an open forum where you are free to express whatever opinion you may hold. It is absolutely not a place where racism, personal attacks, insults, trolling, demeaning others or flaming will be tolerated. Inappropriate threads and postings will be deleted without warning and sanctions applied, as appropriate.

Threads or posts that contain racist, sexist or ageist comments or that aim only to bash a group or person will be deleted without warning or explanation. This includes threads that are racist, sexist or ageist but that try to be passed off as healthy venting. It is acceptable to vent. It is not acceptable to use your frustrations to bash an individual, entire group or nation of people (any individual, group or any nation). In short, bias and prejudice are not acceptable on this site.

Each user agreed to a certain code of conduct when they joined this forum. This code contains rules that limit what can and cannot be said. This code includes the following:

For users:

You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-orientated or any other material that may violate any applicable laws. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned (and your service provider being informed). The IP address of all posts is recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions. You agree that the webmaster, administrator and moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic or post at any time should they see fit.

As a user you agree to any information you have entered above being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent the webmaster, administrator and moderators cannot be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.

Unfortunately, we may miss some of the racist, demeaning or otherwise inappropriate threads or messages that are posted. We will however act on those we see and on any that are reported by PM or through the Post Report function. Authors of such threads or postings will receive warnings or sanctions, as appropriate. Sanctions can include banning along with one's ISPs.

Finally, this is not a free-speech board. If you came here thinking it is, you came to the wrong place. If a free-speech board is what you are seeking, you may want to consider starting a personal blog or spending your time on a non-moderated forum that better suits your needs.

This is also not a forum for the discussion of general philosophical, political or religious topics. Such threads and postings are not permitted and will be removed.

Any and all postings discussing and/or promoting the use of fake degrees and the like will be deleted. Members responsible for such postings OR participating in such discussions will be immediately banned.

Publicly engaging Moderators or criticizing, controverting, questioning Moderator decisions or actions on this board can result in severe sanctions. Sanctions can include temporary or permanent bans.

We, the members of the Mod Team, try very hard to insure this is a place where everyone can come, enjoy themselves, make friends and learn about the ESL teaching profession and what it has to offer in the many different and exciting countries in the world.

All the Moderators are experienced teachers with several years of both teaching and moderating experience. We appreciate good, healthy and civil discussions and hope that you will contribute to them and enjoy your time at Dave’s ESL Cafe.

The information provided above is applicable to all forums on this board and updates and supersedes any previously published board policy statements.
