Expat teachers booked over drunken escapade

Quote:
Police booked two drunk expat elementary school teachers who stole a car, according to Busan Saha Police Station on Monday.

Police said the teachers, 26 and 24, stole the car near a residential area at around 2:35 a.m. on Feb. 22 after the owner had forgotten to take out the keys.

Their escapade lasted five minutes because police stopped them at a checkpoint and booked them for drunk driving and driving without a license.

The teachers left the country soon after the incident, avoiding prosecution.

“The teachers had just finished their contract and were set to go home,” a police official said. “Because there were no injuries or deaths, we could not issue an arrest warrant to stop them leaving.”

Quoted whole thing since it's so short.

Thanks, you two unnamed morons for all the fallout that's going to come from your stupid stunt. Of course the fallout will affect others. Oh, well, you're so stupid you're probably going to steal a car back home and get caught again.

Indeed, not smart.

Though...why would the KH even take the time to print the story?

I know...

Really? So as long as no one was injured or killed, Korean law doesn't allow the police to detain suspects?

Word on the street is, the perp's paid off the owners of the car then bailed.

Quite possible. But who would they pay off in order to beat the DUI? If they had paid off the cops, the story likely wouldn't be making the news.
