Foreign Workers are allowed Maternity Leave in Korea, for women it is paid and husbands are allowed unpaid maternity leave without question but if the company has Rules of Employment the Rules may state that a percentage of the Husbands Maternity Leave is to be paid or fully paid.
Rules of Employment are required by any company that has 5 or more employees, and they (along with the Labor Standards Act) are the "hidden" part of employment contracts in the Republic of Korea.
Items such as Maternity Leave, Sick Leave, Public Holidays Paid by the company, and the promotion of the use of paid Holiday's are in the document. The Rules of Employment have to be made available to all the employees and you can get a copy by asking the Office Manager or the HR manager. |
