I could only find topics on Changwon that were quite old so I wanted to check if things have changed.

I am moving to Changwon soon and am hoping to see if anyone has any information. I am especially interested in learning Korean. Are there, like, 학원s for expats?

My second point is aimed generally at anyone who lives there. Do you enjoy it? Are there things to keep you busy? What about the social scene?

Thanks to anyone who can give me any answers!

Here are a few links to groups about Changwon.

I have lived here for 16 years now and there quite a few long term foreigners here as well.

Best place to meet new people when you first arrive. These are 2 bars right next to each other (same owner), O'Brien's and Next bar:

There is also IP (International Pub) and Biskacthy:

Changwon Expats group:

Changwon Teacher group:

If you need a little taste of back home, and if they don't have what you want they can usually source it for you:

Info on places to eat about town:

If you're into cards, hopefully you are, our numbers are dwindling:

Changwon shop and swap:

There are quite a few other groups about things in Changwon but I'm not a member of them all. A google search should bring them up.

They are a few language swap/learning groups and a vibrant social scene

If you make it to O'Brien's/Next bar when you get here, just ask for the loud drunk Aussie. They'll point you in my direction. I'm usually out Saturday nights.

Changwon is great first city to land in, in Korea. I came for 1 year back in 2001, still here.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Lived in Masan and Changwon back in the really olden days, really liked Changwon. I remember when Masan got it's first McDonald's. it was a really big deal. The mayor of Masan cut the ribbon and they had a marching band. Gotta smile at it, now.

Where will you be? Masan, Jinhae, Yongwon, or Changwon proper?
