|
|
I’m sorry if this has already been covered on another thread, but I couldn’t find it if so.
Can I do editing work as additional job on my E2 despite it falling into a different category from teaching? (Assuming I can get permission from my main employer - Is permission still needed?)
Also, will the second employer likely deduct health insurance and pension etc from their salary, and will this be automatically adjusted for by the tax office at the year end, or do I need to go through any extra steps to ensure annual payments are in order?
Thanks. |

AFAIK: No. Your employer has to agree to let you work another job which would also be permitted under the type of visa you have. So, basically, you could get another teaching job with your boss's permission.
This site's search engine isn't, shall we say, all that robust, so a popular workaround is to use a web search engine, typing in the search string you're looking for and adding forums.eslcafe.com as another term in the search. |

IF you are on an E2 and you have your bosses written permission to work as an "editor" (like at a newspaper or publisher) then you can get permission from immigration to add the job to your ARC even though it (E7) is outside of the scope of your (E2) visa.
You may need to show that you are "qualified" to do the work.
IF you mean editing as in correcting (editing) thesis / dissertations from university / graduate students then it does fall within the E2 guidelines and you just need to follow the regular process to add a 2nd job to work with that employer.
