Worked for a year and it was great, and then got a new job and it was so bad I left on a midnight run. Went back to the states and went on vacation, traveled a bit. Was planning on going to japan to teach but turns out it's like really hard to save $4000. So ever heard of getting a job back in korea after leaving on a midnight run? Otherwise thinking about Vietnam maybe.

If your E2 that you ran from has expired then no problem.
It is just like starting again with a new visa.

IF you are American and had a multi-entry E2 or
If you have your ARC from that job then you cannot return until the E2 has expired.

If you were on a 90-day E2 and it was not extended (no ARC) then you can start again after the E2 has expired.

IF you are in one of the 2 restricted categories then China or Vietnam are viable options. China is always looking for new teachers (but their contracts suck).
Vietnam has a glut of teachers due to the purge of illegal teachers from Thailand. This has resulted in few full-time jobs on offer and most not supporting a proper visa or work permit.
Buxibans in Taiwan are an option that pay about the same as Korea without the benefits and has similar requirements if you want an ARC.
Thailand is a poorly paid option for regular EFL types but there is lots of work to be found.
