I'm wondering if anyone can confirm that their F5 was cancelled after being out of the country for two years.
Yes, I know there are bigger problems in the world right now, but if anyone could share I would appreciate it.
Australians are being told the current restrictions will last for six months, and it may be a year until we can travel again. Six months would be okay for me to get back, but a year will mean I'm over the two years out of the country.
Thanks. |

If you have a registered address in Korea, you should be good for 10 years last I checked. |

The card is valid for 10 years but you still have to step foot in Korea at least once every two years to keep it alive. |

Korean immigration can be flexible. We checked with the office in Daejeon about the two year rule last summer - they told us that you can leave for more than two years AND keep your F5 if you tell them about it beforehand (with some justification I would assume).
In this case, I would call them and check. I would expect them to be flexible in this case. It won't hurt to ask. |

Thanks, Fuzzy_Dunlop.
I recommend if anyone is in the same position you contact the Korean consulate or embassy as they can help. It looks like I still need to make a trip but have more time.
I'd hoped my ARC with permanent resident on it would get me past Aussie Border Force, but they are checking where you have spent most of the last year. My wife, as an Australian Permanent Resident is also under a travel ban.
I never thought my government would prevent me from leaving Australia. |
