Isn't that what the "American Idol" dude says?
Anyway, the end is here. Gonna visit Vietnam, see if I can land a gig there. Shirt and tie, same as Thailand, but hopefully a more resonable pay to save a few bucks.
Anyone have advice? I have not been to Vietnam before, but have had an interest in visiting for quite some time. HCMC (or Hanoi or....?)--- sounds like it may be interesting. |

It definitely seems like you need some kind of change based on some of your recent posts. |

I posted this on the other thread but I'll put it here too. Some parts of Vietnam still have live land mines; however in a major city like you're talking about that wouldn't be a problem. I think this is a really cool idea and I wish you the best of luck. |

Yeah. He seems like he's on the ledge some times. |

Thanks for your appreciation guys.
Just curious, have you ever been "on the ledge" ?
If so, then you have my sympathy.
If not, never mind. And don't pretend to know.
Then again if you are over 30 years old like Zed you might understand...
Zed, I believe you are a smart guy... and know what may be real or not...
catch ya later... |

I never have been on the ledge. I'm generally a happy, satisfied person who can make friends easily and find consuming joy in most things I do. The small ripples in life don't get me down and I don't give up.
What keeps me off the ledge is I don't sit and whine about things and give up before I've even started. |

If I remember correctly, one of the moderators here Mr. Kalgukshi is now running a school in Vietnam.
You might try PMing him.

If it means anything, I heard that Vietnam is a "young white man's paradise" as far as women are concerned.
Never been there myself. |

I was there in September, considering moving there.
All in all, it looks like a pretty good place to set up. Jobs are plentiful, you own your work visa, can make $10 - 20 an hour DOE, cost of living is low, and schools are more proffesional than the Korea. Everyone says good things about the students, too.
The cons are: it's hard to find decent accomodation, it's less developed than Korea, theres almost no public transport, the rainy season is a bitch, and Big Brother is watching.

- You will need a valid passport in order to leave South Korea and enter Vietnam.
- Be yourself, no matter what they say. |

I almost went there 2 years ago. I was offered a job in HCMC but I didn't have the airfare after running about Europe for 6 months and some dodgy place in Yongin sent me a ticket. life could have worked out so differently.
I'd still consider it. My job here may not reach its logical conclusion.
Good luck anyway, Jaj. Give it a shot. |

Just being paranoid, but are you talking about me or just being general? |

Thanks Zed. That dodgy place in Yongin sounds vaguely familiar. |
