Hi,

Several questions about summer positions in Korea.

a) I have a Dip. Ed (HKU), Cert. Ed. & Training (HKU), Cert. Adult & Further Education (HKIed), ICTE, ICTC, ICA UN Group Facilitators Cert. and Teachers Cert. Secondary English (almost complete) and a few other teaching certs. 12 years of teachign in HK goverment schools and have just finished a contract as a junior lecturer at a local goverment college, but no degree completed yet!

Can I get a sponered summer positon with the above?

If so,
b) What sort of deal are available? paid flights? etc.

Thanks Chris

The Korean government won't issue you an E2 visa unless you have a degree from an accredited school. As far as I know you would have to work illegally on a tourist visa.

I think there is a particular visa you can get for working for a short period of time - such as working at a summer/winter camp. No more details than that, sorry.

I would advise that you do have the appropriate visa and don't work on a tourist visa as from what I've read on this board (not personal experience) immigration have been known to visit these camps and deport and fine any illegal teachers.

Here's another link to a post about summer camp work that you may find useful.

Also, I don't have experience working at a camp in Korea, but I did look at a few job ads last year and I think you can expect an airfare, accommodation, meals and a bit of pocket money.

For summer work you could get a C-4 visa, which has to be sponsored by some insitution in Korea, this gives you up to 90 days I think. There is also a working holiday visa H-1, which you can get your self (while in your home country), that allows you to work PT jobs like summer camps, however you do need a degree to be able to teach english under the H-1 visa and special permission is granted by the Chief Immigration Officer in the city where you reside. The H-1 is for 6-12 months but varies for diferent countries, and you should be under 30 years of age. . .
