I've just got back from dinner at Kahunaville in Gangnam. It was the worst meal I've had for ages and that's including the dried squid forced on me yesterday. Okay here's a list of problems:
1. Took 10 minutes to get the waitress to come over even though there were more staff than diners.
2. Forgot about the drinks we ordered.
3. Then got the drink order wrong.
4. Took 45 minutes to get our food.
5. Burger and fries was fine but my chicken jambalya was cold and tasteless.
I didn't complain but I would have if I'd been at home. My advice is even though the menu looks nice, STAY AWAY. |

This sort of thing wouldn't happen in Pohang. |

It sounds like a horrible experience. Are you going to be OK? |

Is it the one by the express bus terminal? Or is there another one?
I've eaten there and had no problem. I do find the prices are a little high in comparison to the quality however. |

Never been there but it does remind me of the countless times I went to a supposedly western restaurant. The menu looks great with pictures of really tasty food and good beer. But when you are ready to order you find out that half the stuff doesn't exist and the steak that you ordered is nothing more than regular duncass and instead of caesar salad you get cabbage covered in mayo with a side of ketchup. Your choice of beer turns out to be all the Korean ones with the usual compliment of budweiser. Talk about false advertisment. i don't even bother going to those types of restaurants anymore. I stick to TGI Fridays, Bennigans, Pizza Hut or the Outback because what you see is what you get. |

Sweet coincidence....last weekend drove up to Seoul for by dog's vet. check up....and had to drive down that road that is parallel to the expresslessway (and leads on to Hannam dae-gyo) . Saw the Kahunaville restaurant...thought it looked sweet, and planned on having our group's dinner (before the next get-together) there...
Danke for the heads up...guess back to square 1 - BK.
Shoosh,

FWIW, I went there on Monday and had a great time. The decor and ambience is far better than the other casual fine-dining outfits, plus the menu selection is better than the others, IMO (or at least, good for a change). The food presentation is really cool. The drink menu is excellent and has a great variety of tropical drinks.
The food selection is great, the food taste didn't disappoint, either (although wasn't earth-shattering). The customer service was overly attentive, but mind you, it was a slow Monday.
Downside is that it can be expensive. We dropped 100K between the two of us.
Worth a visit, at least once, to size up for yourself.
(Don't forget to buy a Pez dispenser at the front desk on the way out. ) |
