I just read an article from the Toronto Star newspaper that suggested most people in Canada dislike Toronto and the people who are from there. I've encountered some anti-Toronto sentiment from other Canadians but I've never thought this was a wide spread attitude. So basically I'm just curious what the Canadians (or anyone else who might be familiar with the topic) think about Toronto.

here's the link to the article.... not sure if it will work though

You should give people who haven't been there the option of *never been there, but heard it's good/bad/ok*

I'm not from there, but it is a place I'd like to visit someday.

It can't be that bad, can it?

Oh well. Come to Boston. Home of the World Series winning Red Sox and the three times in 4 years winners of the Super Bowl (adpoted home anyways.)

I never thought I'd live to type that. Very Happy

That is correct my friend. Not so much about the expenses, New York and L.A. are worse in comparison, but definitely with the traffic. Great subway system, though.

Didn't like any of the options, so I'm just posting.

Great food--best in the country.
Lousy design unless you're a car person.
Too few parks for a city that big.
Rude people--hard to believe it's Canada sometimes. (When the most helpful people you meet are the cops, the city has a PR problem.)
Great subway--but I'd rather see a city above ground.
Great clubs unless you prefer live music to DJs.
Not nearly enough beautiful women for a city that big.
Irritating TO boosters amplify Canada's national inferiority complex to the Nth degree.
Great bookstores--also the best in the country.

Oh, and too many smokers: what's with like, 40% of the pop'n smoking when everywhere else it's 20?

Toronto is the same as most big cities. It's great if you can afford to live there.

i agree with this totally... but i think the argument here is just what's really worse about toronto than other canadian cities that people from everywhere else in canada have to bash it so much.

Well, I'd rather live in Vancouver than Toronto, mostly due to the weather and the ocean. That said, for variety alone I think Toronto has most of the rest of the country beat even if one can't stand the residents or their attitude.

This thread is B.S., every Canadian knows that every other Canadian already knows that Canadians not from Toronto already dislikes Toronto.

It's like having a story that says that Canadians like ... Socialized Medicine.

Let me summarize:

English and French Canada dislike each other.

East dislikes West.

West dislikes East

Easy and West both dislike Toronto.

English Speaking and French Speaking Provinces all dislike Ontario.

Ontario's cities and regions all dislike Toronto.

We all dislike Toronto.

Toronto is the only part of Canada worth the effort to dislike.

I am from Hamilton, Canada's greatest Toronto "hatingist" place... 60 km down the Q.E.W.

All of Canada hates Toronto because they are not Toronto.

Except Quebec City ... but F. them ...
