Mang Sang beach in Tonghae City, Kangwon-do. However, while the beach is great, Tonghae City is not.

The best beaches Ive been to in Korea have been on Namhae.

Worldwide, I would say Chaweng beach on Koh Samui and Hua Hin's beach are up there too.

1. any beach along the Cinque Terra in Italy...5 little towns within an hour walk of each other, beautiful beachs...though you'll get a kick out of the saggy bikini clad women and overweight italian men in spedos

2. Saipan!!!!!!!!!

3. Island of Elba (where they sent Napolean the first time) off the west coast of Italy....its incrediable.

I haven't been to any in korea but:

# 1 Piha (although getting to crowded) so

#2 Kare Kare

#3 Tapuautahi (means by single foot)... But good luck finding it on a map. Land is owned by the local iwi which have controlled development bigtime. Thus only 50 baches along a very beautiful beach that is protected by a beach...

The southern tip of africa also deserves a mention but is just to dangerous to be good.

denz: Bells was a tiny little cove I discovered- fairly deserted, good surf though. But hardly lived up to my expectations..If you're after waves, i recomend Uvongo near Durban in s. Africa. Also Margaret river in W. Australia was pretty terrifying.
Canuck: I found chewang to be a little spoilt by litter...
Incidentally Nha Trang in Vietnam has some of the strongest currents out there. The beach slopes at such a relatively steep angle that the waves really crash down on it- you can be pulled out easily.

Hi

Yes, I may be an Aussie traitor, but nothing but nothing beats Borroci in the Phillippines. Get past any big city (ie Manilla) to this getaway and you'll pay pittance ($16/night) for fine beach front accommodation.

PS. If you get the guides, refuse to stay at the the first places they show you. They keep going cheaper. Tell them you're on a really low budget.

The Mount Beach, Bayof Plenty, New Zealand... definitely a top beach. I spent most of my life growing up there.

The perfect Thai beach? I found one... And I'll share it with you. File size is big so be a little patient. The Perfect Thai Beach - photo by me

Korean beaches... haven't found one really worth mentioning yet. Maybe after this summer I'll be able to name one.
