Summer is coming....does anyone have a calendar and know when the "dog days" of summer are? Anyone want to recommend their favorite bo-shin-tang joint?

I know, I know, it is "illegal" to eat dog and some people are dead set against it. It would be tiresome if you were to rehash those old arguments.

July 17, July 26, and August 15.

What city are you in/near?

yeah, I was up for it until someone told me how the dogs got slaughtered.

I'm not one of those people who go "Eww! You mean you actually have to KILL something before you eat it?! How immoral!" but, damn! That aint cricket.

Each year, millions of dogs and cats in South Korea meet a grisly death at the hands of an illegal trade in their flesh. Before being eaten, animals are electrocuted, strangled, or bludgeoned to death in order to increase the level of adrenalin in their blood, which some believe provides an aphrodisiac effect.

Stuff yourself silly Oi Girl . Sorry to be "tiresome" but rather that than shamelessly arrogant and ignorant.

curlyQ,

I hear you arguments in favor of dogs and cats alike.
But, simple question: Do you eat pork, beef, mutton or chicken?
If so your support for the poor dogs is hypocritical as cattle is slaughtered and raised in just as appaling conditions.

Does a pig deserve less of your compassion than a dog?

Hmmm. Me too. I thought that advertising dog soup restaurants in English was illegal, but not actually eating dog meat.

What do you think about what the Koreans think about the health benefits of eating boshin-tang? Is it up there with fan death?

i personally don't participate in the consumption of land roving animals. i also do not criticize other's choice to enjoy beef or whatever, different strokes and all that.

i do agree with homer that it's hypocritical to berate others for eating dog if you eat other mammal meat. i hear fast food burgers are the worst due to the sheer volume of meat consumed by franchise patrons.

As for the health benefits, hmmm, ' don't know. I rather like odd beliefs and superstitions and have a few of my own (all secrets of course Wink ).

I do criticize it. People who get into this need therapy.

Would you say that any meat eaters need therapy? What the hell is the difference between a pig, cow, chicken or dog?

If you actually do believe that meat eaters should all be in therapy, like so many vitamin deficient, pasty, fall over in a stiff breeze vegans think, well then I've got to tell you to take up your complaints with Darwin. We've got canine teeth for a reason, it's because we're omnivores.

Why do so many people have a problem with the fact that we're part of the food chain? We're the apex predators of this planet, and you should wake up every day and thank your walking upright God that that's the case. If it makes you feel better just realize that eventually we'll be consumed by insects, bacteria, and worms. It's just the way life is, deal with it.
