Am coming out in August and I really fancy jumping back in the saddle again.

Q: Do they go in for horseriding in South Korea?

Are you speaking literally or figuratively? anyways, if you're looking to do some horseback riding you may be able to find a place in or around Seoul but it is not a common pastime in Korea. I have not heard of any places.

Or are you speaking figuratively? 'back in the saddle' is a common, if abiguous phrase....

Well, obviously I meant horseback riding as in...oh never mind!

That's a shame as I'll be in Daegu. All those lovely mountains too...

Horseriding in Korea is not very common though I did meet an English girl who hooked up with a Korean guy who had a horse he agisted in Gyeongu (not too far from Daegu) but didn't know how to ride it Shocked

Other than that, I believe horseriding is something to do while holidaying on Jeju Island...

hmmm... that would be horseposing, not horseriding.

I wonder how many Koreans have actually been horseriding? Some of my students think I'm an absolute goddess because I can ride a horse. I think I've only ever known one of my students to ride a horse and that was in Jeju. (She wasn't honeymooning though - she's only about 10) It's one of the first things I did with my (now) husband when he came to Australia with me for the first time. Laughing I think he enjoyed wearing the Drizabone as much as horseriding Wink

Squaffy: I like Guys that are 6' tall with thick, sandy blonde hair and gorgeous lagoon blue eyes remember?? Oh! And don't forget, long dark lashes! Very Happy

(Especially ones that happen to live in the U.A.E!)

Anyway, if I wanted a 'ride' it would mean I wanted to cadge a lift off of someone. Not anything that you males might be alluding to. Honestly!!

I was being perfectly serious in posting this topic. Quite obviously. I simply thought that as there are so many mountains out there and all that beautiful countryside, it would be quite wonderful to explore it on horseback rather than on foot all the time.

Although..... if there are any hunky Brits or Aussies out in Daegu around August time Wink

There is something that makes you feel a bit special when you're on horseback. Up above everyone else. Serene and 'stately', yet still (hopefully!) very much in control of your steed. Hey! Don't laugh at that bit!

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Surprised

Ok

ha ha ha ha ha ha Razz

Daegu and Beautiful countryside

Razz ha ha ahhhh HAHAHAH

Mountains OH MY GOD!!!!

OK OK I can breath now

As to horseback riding well maybe you can find a riding place. But Daegu is crowded and having a riding hall ( hell I forget the name) would be difficult. And likely horseback riding will be EXPENSIVE.

Do not expect to much riding around the country side lady. It is rice paddies, greenhouse farms, roads, mud, garbage and traffic. Do not expect a nice canter through the country side.

Yes Korea does come from a Farming history but horse where not the common with farmers - cows yes horses no. I think only rich and royalty had it and high grade soldiers.

But I did a quick google search and this is what I came up with

Daeduk horse riding: tel 053-656 0467 (likely need a translator)

Daegu Apsan Park - horse riding ground

I just asked my adult students today, if they have been horseback riding? Those few who did all did it on Cheju Island and did it on horses that were tied to a post by a rope. Yippeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What??? No countryside??? Stuff it then! But I saw pictures in my lovely guidebook and my recruiter (British, not Korean) has told me about the Beauuutiful mountains.

Oh well, maybe I'll just get myself a sexy beast of a Motorbike and go tearing round the streets. Yeah!!! (and get probably end up getting myself killed). How about skydiving? Do they do that in South Korea?
