So, we want to do the DMZ tour. Probably a half day tour that includes as much as possible, like a trip to one of the infiltration tunnels. Can anyone recommend a good tour company? Does the US military still do tours? Should we book ahead by a couple weeks? Any information appreciated. Thanks, K.

Try the USO tours. It's the only one that goes to Panmunjeom, where you are as close to the border as you can get. And, they let you take pictures of NK, whereas most, actually all, Korean tours don't.

I have a travel guide from the Korea National Tourism Organization and they list 031-954-0303 as the number to call for a DMZ tour. The price is 8700 won plus a roundtrip train ticket for 2200 won.
Have fun!

I second that notion. The USO tours are pricey, though: about 40,000 won, as I recall. Being yelled at by US soldiers for a day is worth that and more.

I've done two tours. One through the USO and one through a different outfit (name escapes me), which worked out well because they each went to different places. Call up some tour companies and check their itinerary and maybe just do a couple of 'em as time allows.

The soliders that they have taking the tours more than make up for the price. Damn those men are fine ....but since a guy you probably don't care for that observation.
