I read that the above gentleman who made this comment is being investigated by the PA and will likely be censured. These comments were aired on Palestinian TV by a Cleric, who is now under investigation.

You have to question how long it will take for real peace to be made if these are the beliefs of certain inviduals in the area of Palestine, let alone what others in Israel say. I mean, I have almost lost hope that 2 people who are basically cousins or at best family relatives of different religions can ever live in peace. But lets keep on hoping.

The world abounds in idiots.

Not sure what else to say. Other than yes, if peace is achieved there, then it is possible pretty much everywhere else.

Our etiquette on this forum generally expects people who post a quote to provide a link to the source, in this case, WorldNetDaily.

Here is the entire article.

Well you can see it below:

http://memritv.org/Transcript.asp?P1=669

It is kind of true that Memri is selective on the other hand some of the blame should be focused at the ones who said it in the first place. Don't you agree RSR?

I would say what that guy said is even more extreme than WND. By the way you beloved Counterpunch uses Kurt Nimmo.

Actually, I read it on Haaratz (I think thats correct spelling) I go there from OnlineNewspapers.com. I do have one question, to RSR, whether all those other articles were to prove that your source is biased, or whether there are many controversial articles or whether you just wished to descredit the topic. Please explain.

I was just stating that with views of this nature being presented in Palestine, anti Israel views are likely to take a while to change. That action typically follows a change in attitude and unless his attitude changes, it will be a while before his action changes. Thats all.

RSR, seriously. Sure, it might be a wacky source, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is nearly 100% accurate in the quote.

Sadly comments such as the one above are common. How common among Palestinians, I really cannot say. Definitly common in the arab world though.

The irony, at least to me, is I found more anti-semetic, crazy talk about Israel in Egypt than Syria. The views I heard in Syria were quite moderate compared to elsewhere. Well besides the media and gov't of course. Perhaps Syrians have the same view as Iranians do towards the gov't and media: the truth is the opposite of what they read/see in the news.

And no, it isn't a one-sided thing. Plenty of nuts and idiots in Israel as well that talk nonesense about the Palestinians.

Yes, Joo, I do agree.

And I didn't even dispute the article. But I will often check to see where an article comes from because that does tell me something about their bias. There was another article in that publication that I didn't reference that said the whole world will be Christian by 2032.

So, I didn't attack or dispute the article. I merely showed a list of some of the other articles a publication that carries it also carries. Without comment. Except for my little remark about some calling that source wingnut news.

It is legitimate, I believe. And people can make up their own minds.

If I post an article from Smirking Chimp and you want to go to their site and pick out the most prejudicial titles of articles (without editing them in any way) and do the same thing, please do. I won't complain.

I don't know if orgs like MEMRI actually make up stuff to suit their prejudices. I suspect not. The one thing I know that they do do is cherry pick anything they can that supports their view of Arabs and Islam. That's fine as long as they don't just make it up. But I will always be inclined to point out what their bias is and that it is run by an ex-Israeli Army officer so that the reader realizes that it has a strong ideological agenda and isn't like the Christian Science Monitor, for example, when it comes to objectivity.

The problem I have is that, for the most part, only the haters and demagogues of one side are ever presented in our media regarding Arabs and Palestinians and Israelis. While the truth is closer to BB's comment, "And no, it isn't a one-sided thing. Plenty of nuts and idiots in Israel as well that talk nonesense about the Palestinians."

As long as it is such a one-sided skewering of the Arab wingnuts (as is constantly done by some on this forum), but nearly total silence about the Israeli wingnuts, I will feel a certain responsibility to respond cynically to that one-sidedness. I'd rather spend my time doing other things, quite frankly.

In many countries in the mideast the more pro western the government the less pro western the populace and vis-versa. Probably the most anti US populace in the muslim world is in Pakistan ( I know they are not in the mideast ) and the most pro US populace in the muslim world is in Iran. I would not at all be surprised if the average Syrian was a lot more pro US and less anti Israeli than the average Jordanian.

The US typically supports those nations that will benefit it, though the original position of this topic was the attitude held by some in Palestine.

To RSR, I do agree with BB that some in Israel hold similar views. I read somewhere, can't remember where that a person travelling through Israel in the 80's picked up a Israeli soldier and got into a conversation with them about the occupation. He said he was shocked by the views held by the soldier, that were completely different from earlier generations views held by Israelis about Palestinians. That he believed that the attitude had changed negatively towards the palestinians by the younger generation in Israel.

I guess it only gets worse unless something changes it. Views that generalize and promote hate against another, regardless of whether they are Israeli or Palestinian are both wrong in my belief, but as I am neither a Israeli or a Palestinian and cannot influence either at this time, my view counts for nought.
