Well, is that a real picture or a fake?

If it is a real pic, it's the most utterly gross invasion of privacy of any high-profile "POW" I've seen to date; not to mention it violates a nice big stack of Geneva Convention statutes. It's also stupendously S-T-U-P-I-D to parade pics of Saddam around like that (real or not) given the climate in the ME these days. When will they learn. |

Where's the story here? I'm surprised they think that this will sell papers. |

Unfortunately, in my country, the Geneva Convention has been trumped by the Republican convention. |

I heard on some news show tonight that The Sun will publish more pix of SH tomorrow.
I'm not familiar with The Sun. What is its agenda? Especially this week, with the Newsweek fiasco so fresh. |

It's a Rupert Murdoch tabloid with an agenda of selling papers. See the page 3 girl as an example. I would post a link to the page 3 girl, so you could get the general tenor of The Sun, but I'm sure you can find it with Google. |

I'll bet Saddam is glad he listened to his mamma who always said, "Hussein, if you are going out, be sure to put on clean underwear. You never know when you'll get hit by a car and go to the hospital--or end up on the cover of The Sun. I don't want the nurses to think I'm a bad mother." |

I'm with Canuckistan. Incredibly stupid, irresponsible and dangerously provocative. I'll be very surprised if nobody gets killed over this one. Not only does it disgrace the captors, it humiliates the Iraqi populace, and some will feel that it denegrates all arabs/muslims. Some will want payback. Perhaps in the near future, we'll see some videos with western hostages paraded in their underwear, in place of the symbolic orange jumpsuits, ready for their ritual beheading.
Great work Rupert, you effing cunt. |

I find it a tad ironic that the people who invaded Iraq to save the poor Iraqiis from Saddam are now the ones harping about the Geneva convention and Saddam's rights.
I don't agree with the Sun's decision to print those photos, by the way.
I just had to wince when I noticed some people's comments. |

I have to say I'm more than a little confused by your post. From what I've seen, I'd hardly say the "people who invaded Iraq to save the poor Iraqiis from Saddam" are the ones who are now "harping about the Geneva convention and Saddam's rights." Quite the opposite. Perhaps I'm wrong. Please provide some examples.
And which comments are you wincing at? |

>. I think we can breath a little easier mind you: CNN recently reported the US military brass is set to aggressively "probe" the whole affair.
