From http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/05/30/cheney.iraq/index.html

Quote:
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The insurgency in Iraq is "in the last throes," Vice President Dick Cheney says, and he predicts that the fighting will end before the Bush administration leaves office.

In a wide-ranging interview Monday on CNN's "Larry King Live," Cheney...said he expected the war would end during President Bush's second term, which ends in 2009.

Well, gosh, that makes me feel warm and fuzzy all over. That's only... what, twice (?) as long as it took the US - and England, and Russia, and the rest of the Allied powers - to defeat the Nazis (largely recognized at the time as the most powerful military machine ever assembled) in WWII!

And this coming a mere two years after Bush proclaimed "Mission Accomplished"!

Have Faith in your leaders, America. They know what they're doing.

if we did the kind of destruction we did in WWll in Iraq, all of these anti-Bush guys would have our heads. You think its bad now, we are trying to limit casualties. Lets compare the number of civilian casualties, this war has much less. Not too mention the tactics these guys are using. Suicide bombers, strapping bombs to dogs, you can't fight agaisnt these guys without killing innocent people. Only other option would have been to let Saddam rule and kill these people anyway

Saddam was never a threat to the US, and the Taliban, just on one particular morning.

Invading Afghanistan was good, wish we'd done it long before - like when they were denying little girls the right to learn to read ...

You try to reach, but your arm's too short to box with God ... it's a line from an old movie, don't bother looking for it in the Bible. Or the Koran,

you would win. I think the US will be in Iraq in some form for 10 - 15 years. Though I think by 2009 the US will move its forces to bases in Kurdistan. I think that is what Cheney really meant.

By 2009 the US won't be bringing law and order to Iraq , they will just have big military bases there.

That is my opinon.
