By Andrew Marshall
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A suicide bomber blew himself up at a gathering of Sufi Muslims north of Baghdad, killing 10 people in the latest attack by Iraqi insurgents on religious sects they disapprove of, officials said on Friday.

The bomber detonated his explosives on Thursday evening in a house near the town of Balad as Sufis gathered for a religious ceremony, Interior Ministry officials said.

Sufis follow a form of Islamic mysticism that stresses the need for a personal experience of God. Some conservative Muslims consider them emotional or even heretical.

I guess the moonbats don't mind hate crimes against muslims, just as long as the ones doing that hate crimes also hate the US.

If you support the insurgents then you are supporting fascism.

Counterpunch supports the insurgents even when they don't really know who they are. Please see "Iraqis fighting the occupation", "What do you expect, its their home?" outlooks that are stated over and over again.

Then why do they kill more of their own neighbors than they do the "enemy"?

Maybe becaues they are religious extremists extremists, like the nice fellows who fire guns at doctors outside of Planned Parenthood clincs in the US.

Just an idea ... pick it up and run with it you like.

Bathists are sort of secular, yet they are bigots too.

What is it that separates them from the bigots and extremists in the US?

There maybe more of them and they are certainly better armed and sometimes even more extreme.

I hate them both.

But if it makes you feel better the US government often goes after them too.

but the Bathists and the extremists in the US both have one thing in common they hate the US government.

Indeed a hate group recently tried to kill a US judge. Tim McVeigh had ties to extremist groups.

I hope the The US government uses the patriot act against hate groups in the US.

From what I've heard and read, there are several totally different groups with different agendas. Using one term, insurgents, masks what is really going on.

One group of insurgents is the Ba'athists. They bomb Iraqi cops.
Another group is Sunni. They bomb the Shias.
Another group is made up of foreigners. They bomb foreign troops.

I don't think the groups are that seperate. While I agree there are 2-3 agendas, I'm sure they work with one another and have some cordination together. I'm sure the foreigners have no problem killing the apostate shi'ites nor those secular GIs running around.

My understanding is that these two are one and the same.
