Hi,

A quick question for those who know about Kangnam rental issues.

I just rented an officetel at SNU-EDU station. It is really big, and we are the first to live in it (brand new building). We paid 20mil key money and 500 rent. It has an amazing view, but no storage space. Also, it is fully furnished.

Did we get taken?

Yeah, "really big" doesn't help much.

You're up late, you two.

Sounds in the normal range to me.

That rent arrangement sounds about right. Most places I've just seen in that area and of that size are 10 mil. deposit/600k monthly or in that range. Your additional 10 mil. deposit is saving you per year far more than any bank interest would pay. (gobs more) New building? Nice building? I'd say you weren't taken at all.

I wouldn't call 17~18 really big as officetels go. Kinda big might be more accurate. You said "we", so I'm guessing you're living there with someone. Hope it's a bed-buddy, cuz them's close quarters, even with the crawl-spacey upper level if it's got one. Pics?

20 mil. for an officetel is excessive. I've been in some of the fanciest officetels (in Gangnam/Mokdong/etc.) and those typically go for 5-10 mil key money with 500-800 rent.
