whoreay!
Any artists and music co. who needs to squeeze more money out of the consumer's pockets should get a swift kick to the box, or rectangle as the case maybe.
But her justification seems completely sound to me:

"For me, it was just about coming up with a creative new way for people to share this music," Morissette told the Toronto Star. |

Who gives a damn about where you get the music, getting the music to an audience is the most important thing, the only reason HMV are so sh*tty about it, is because its a great album by a famous Canadian artist that usually does quite well with sales.
Half of the world downloads from the internet, I know I will be when it's released.
Alanis addressed the senate in the states to fight the recording companies and there hungry wallets, so if she can get a better deal ($$$)from distrubuting her music through Starbucks then good on her. |

You can be a Pantera fan, and an Alanis fan, its ok you can admit it.
Now turn off that Shirley Bassey and go play some real music. |

That album was so good. Then she became pacified when people told her she had issues. Careful. Boring! |

it would be nice to think that HMV did this cause her music wasn't so great...
but..it's more likely from this american source......

This obnoxiously favors our competition," says CEO/co-owner Mike Dreese, who now refers to the singer as "persona non grata." Dreese adds that he signed a letter to Morissette's U.S. label Maverick expressing Newbury's displeasure over terms of the release but has not received a response. This is the ultimate disrespect, he says, to a retailer that has supported Maverick's developing artists.

What do you you expect from a label owned by Madonna?
Does anyone even shop at HMV? I admit I sometimes go in if I happen to be in a mall and there aren't any other music stores but their stuff is so expensive. At least a couple bucks higher than other places. I've seen them try to sell some CDs for $25. Their store at West Edmonton Mall has a good selection though. You can find anything at West Ed.
Ultimately, it's only going to hurt HMV. People who want it will just go to Starbucks. But c'mon, Starbucks. It's hardly associated with music. Talk about selling out.
Do we have to apologize for Shania, too? |

Starbucks is poised to take over the world. Just look:
BTW, I find it hard to believe that so many people actually want to buy an instrumental version of an album that was released 10 years ago. This is manufactured hype -- by Starbucks!!!

I'd sooner poke out my own eardrums than hear my crazed ex-roomate from BC croon drunkenly to their aural trash. |

Alanis Morrisette needs to make another dance music CD. That would be newsworthy.
