Wow--30 degrees out and apparently hell has finally frozen over. Anyway, I hope they put some effort into the performance. |

"Any squabbles Roger and the band have had in the past are so petty in this context. And if reforming for this concert will help focus attention, then it's got to be worthwhile," Gilmour said.
WOW!,,,that sounds great...I never thought they could patch things up. I saw Roger Waters play a show in Seoul many moons ago. I remember it as an amazing sound and light blast.
I allso remember the two guys who ran past the front of the stage with a sign reading "Gilmour's a *ANKER!" |

The Wall in Berlin in 1990 was pretty mindblowing- best concert experience ever. |

It's only a true reunion if they also have Syd Barrett. |

Syd did have some talent--Piper is pretty good though somewhat dated. I never checked out his solo stuff.
After having seen Pink Floyd up close (sans Waters) in a stadium and Waters in much smaller venue I can understand why Waters hocked a loogie at a fan in Montreal in '77 in disgust at the whole stadium rock experience. I enjoyed Waters' concert far more enjoyable than Gilmour's on so many levels.
Waters has also written much better material post-Floyd split, IMHO. |

The Pink Floyd were a great band before 1969. Then Syd left. I imagine this reunion will cause many a jean to cream up, but it will be a dull, laborious unrehearsed slog through a very limited back issue of Roger's Floyd songs only. I'll be watching Live 8, but don't anticipate Pink Floyd to be of more interest value than any of the other performers. They are to be commended for making the effort to participate together in the war on hunger, but then they ought to go back to pasture where they belong. And stay there. |

One of the teacher I know here got dragged out for the obligatory sam gap sal dinner and mandatory kareoke afterwards.
The Korean teachers he was with insisted he pick a song....perusing through the song book he came across a classic Pink Floyd song. Feeling confident because he knew the words off by heart he decided to do "We Dont Need No Education". He jumped up closed his eyes and belted it out as best he could..when he finished there was a stunned silence and some shocked faces in the kareoke room.
Needless to say he was never invited out on a teachers kareoke night again |

Though I have to admit, they were away so long
I began to suspect that they were jamming on the
dark side of the moon. |

I saw Roger Waters here a few years ago, near Jamsil at Olympic Stadium. Pre-show time a few of his tech guys walked accross the front stage area with a banner that stated "David Gilmour is a WANKER!!". I don't need that crap in my face - I went to see Waters perform live, and he supports that behaviour from his staff during his concerts? Sulk! I was quite upset to see that.
As for Floyd, I've seen them 3 times (without Waters). Great. So was Waters, but his attitude? Blew me away...
