I'm really interested in exploring Buddhism via an overnight templestay program. Anyone out there done this before who could share their experience? Where should I go?

www.templestaykorea.com

Stayed three hagwon Summer vacations (one week each time) and a whole three month Winter kyolche once. Seoul International Zen Centre and their temple in the mountains north of Taejon (Musangsa).

It's really cool and I think you should go.

I just went (chuseok weekend) to the Lotus Lantern temple. It was ok...I didn't really know what I was expecting, but for some reason it wasn't what I'd hoped. It was pretty much eat, sit around, pray, meditate, sit around, sleep, sit around, pray, sit around, eat, sit around, leave. A lot of sitting around hanging out with the other temple stayers in between everything else.
I mean, I didn't expect to be entertained, or for them to have "activities" ligned up, I just didn't expect it to turn into a giant hang out. Some people were supposed to stay for two days who left after one, they were disappointed too.
Definitely go for the experience, but I'd suggest making it only one day, you get the gist of it after that.
