Any of you guys skate in Korea? Know any good spots?

How's the local scene? I know there is a small skate scene in Korea but would like to know from someone who's seen it first hand.

When I went to Korea in 1988 there were a bunch of skaters who would show up at Tae-hak-no on Saturdays and set up an old school skate ramp and just session it all day. It was pretty cool.

Please excuse my lack of lingo knowledge:
by skater I guess you mean skateboard and not ice.

In Olympic Park in Songpa and Central Park in Bung Dang there is a "half pipe thingy" ... The Olympic one looks a little 'worn' but Bundang is quite new, nice and busy.

Hehe.... yeah I meant skateboard.

Can you post pics and directions? I'm gonna be going to Korea this summer for a week and might bring my skateboard.

i was playing hockey out at olympic park on sunday when i gandered to me left and spotted a bunch of skaters guzzing down some moves. it caught my eye cause it's not somethin' you see every day out here. i think it started off as some "club show-off" tidbit but the left overs were out there for a while. i'm not sure if it's a weekly showing but olympic park has lots of good spots for you.

AI,

I would suggest that you bring your board with you, as there are sweet spots all over Korea...just gotta cruise around. Do you prefer street or ramp? I road on a ramp that was seemingly built by neanderthals...never felt daring enough to ride one here again!

I suggest that you get in contact with universities around you (assuming you will be near one/some), as most schools have skate clubs, a.k.a "skateboard dong-a-li". The kids there will embrace your presence, I am sure, as mine had....loads of fun, though, they were quite the neophytes... These kids will be able to (and most likely want to) show you all the 'spots' in that area, and about.

Shoosh,

Ryst
