Bring your Marks and Spencer thermals and a decent jacket as it is proper cold in winter. No doubt some 'Canucks' will disagree and say how they walk around in shirt sleeves all the time, but coming from England, you will definitely feel the cold. |

It's a northern hemisphere country. Unless you're coming from NZ or Australia winter is when it usually is. |

Yes you will need warm clothes.
The problem with Korea in Winter is like this...
I am from Canada. When I am outside during the winter I expect to be cold and have my *beep* receede into my stomach. But when I get inside it will be warm and comfortable. My apartment or house has central heating and fibreglass insulation.
In Korea. It gets a a bit cold outside. In the winter you will want a good jacket a big parka can be avoided. A nice wooley cap and a scarf will be helpful.
But when you get inside. it is still cold. Korean heating hoovers big time. The floor may be hot but standing up your nipples are stiff. Taking a shower is a miserable time if you shower has no pressure. And sleeping you need many blankets. Koreans have no central heating. Heating is either electical which will raise your electric bill to new heights or is propane heating unit which can be smelly and CO2 levels could kill if you are not careful. Ondal heating is okay if you sit and live close the floor. Acutally ondal can be nasty as sitting on the floor you behind is soon being cooked slowly. And remeber most Korean building are made from concete. So they become quite nice refridgerators in the winter.
Some other advice. In the summer you will want some good t-shirts made from cotton. Some Korean clothing is made from synthetic fibres and can be horrible. Sweat does not evaporate as the clothing does not breath. Same with socks. Your feet can become quite smelly and sweaty.
