I know this topic has been posted before, (a couple of months back) but I didn't pay attention. Foolishly thinking, this will never happen to me. But it has happened, and now what? I tried to do a search for it, but came up with any number of other topics.
What are my obligations to my new employer and visa versa?
Is my contract still valid? ( only a month and a half left)
The school still seems to be running normally, the new boss speaks even less English than the last one. I am trying to find out things like, when is my last day of work? Will I get my severance money? etc.
To complicate things, I never got my work visa finalized until a month after I started working. (I didn't realize when I signed the contract that it would take so long) Does this mean that I'll have to work an extra month to receive full payment?
Anyone out there have any thoughts on this?
Thanks

When a school is sold, the new owner takes the responsiblity of your original contract. If he asks you to sign a new contract, you are not obligated and he much continue your original agreement.
If this are maintained the same as they were before, don't worry, keep your head down, finish your contract, collect your money, and get out. |

Lets just say that if you dont do exactly as they tell you in regards to your contract, they will do what they want to you anyway. Which means that if they plan to not pay you your bonus, they wont do it regardless of which contract you have.
The final word: Contracts are pretty much toilet paper to your boss. |
