I am changing schools at the end of my present contract but will be going home to the States before starting my new gig in mid-August. I will be working hourly for good money at my new job, but my flight isn't paid for, so I am trying to go as "budget" as I possibly can. I have been trying to get a "reasonable round-trip ticket price", but I am beginning to believe that is an oxymoron. So, now I am wondering if I can return with just a one-way ticket in hand. Any help on this will be greatly appreciated!

If you already have your visa stamped in your passport, you can enter Korea on a one way ticket.

The last time I tried to get in on a one way ticket with no E-2 stamp, I had to thoughly explain my reasons to a lady at the immigration desk who didnt have the best English.

They seem to be tightening things up at immigration. But unless you foolishly spent all of the money you earned here, you should have more than enough to pay for the round trip ticket.

It doesn't have to be a round trip ticket, just as long as you have an ongoing ticket, Japan will suffice, so will Taiwan.
Make it for one month after your entry. Tickets from Korea to Japan are really cheap, and if you get an open-ended one that's extendable, you can use it to vacation later, or something.
