There are a couple of nauseating things about some of the frequent
topics posted on this forum, but the one that really stands out to me is
these two or three contributors that post their views on North /South
issues, security concerns, and international politics AS IF they have any
insight or understanding beyond what anyone can read on page six and seven of the Korean Herald. If to know one else, I say to them that I AM
ON TO YOUR INSOLENT PEDANTRY! You may captivate a newbie or
two, but I chuckle in your direction. Cease the disinformation....

By the way, as a point of usefulness and to counter the downright silly
speculation I have seen in this space, if you are an American citizen
(and presumably Canadian as well) if the real shite starts flying, as it may
well, the approved plan is to proceed rapidly to OSAN AFB (Pyeongtek
direction, 70 minutes south of Seoul) passport, one small bag in hand.
If you are lucky enough to board, the flight to Japan will probably be free.

When I came here this time just prior to the IMF crisis there was a plan for Japan on to lay on boats from southern ports in the case of a conflict! Is this still on? Also what other U.S. Bases are likely to offer flights out provided they are operating?

Just a hunch, but the only other US airbase in Korea is Kunsan, so I'd say that would be option #2 to get a flight out of here via US military. If you live in Kwangju, Busan, or Daegu, Kunsan is closer to you than Osan. I also think you'd be safe down in Busan and getting a ferry to Japan or elsewhere in Asia. How much it would cost is another matter...
