The last lonely planet for Korea sucked but what I thought was good was the Pocket Language book that they put out. It was full of useful phrases and words. I'm not talking about the language section in the back of the Lonely Planet book of Korea but a seperate book about 100 pages long. Also, not all lonely planets suck. Ithought the one that covered Japan was excellent. I toured there for about 2 and a half months and it was invaluable. |

The guy who wrote the last LP Korea lived in Taiwan and didn't relish the thought of coming to Korea to do research. He didn't take much pleasure in revising the book, but it was quite lucrative and he found it hard to give up.
I don't think all LP books are bad - the one for Tibet was particularly useful, and I used it nearly every day I was there. The one for Nepal is good, as well. |

Exactly. He's a nice enough guy, but at the time LP couldn't find anyone else to do the update. Interestingly enough, if I had to describe his outlook on life, I'd have to call him 'Anda-like'. |

LP is HORRIBLE. I like Eyewitness books much more. Anyway, I will NEVER NEVER NEVER buy a Lonely Planet book again. |
