|
|
So, there I was taking a nice drive along a scenic road when one of the overhead speeding cameras flashed and took my picture. I took that to mean that I should be expecting a speeding ticket to arrive in the mail any time soon. This leads me to ask the following:
Since I won't be able to read the ticket...
-- Where and how do I pay it?
-- Does anyone know what the fine is for driving 5-10km over the speed limit?
And finally, what would happen if I "forget" to pay the ticket before leaving the country at the end of my contract? What are the forseeable consequences if I leave it unpaid?
Thanks, advice appreciated! |

Payable in cash upon presentation at any police station.

I don't recall exactly, but I believe it may be 50~60,000 won.

Depends on whether or not you own the car, for one thing. If you try to alienate the title to the auto before you leave, but haven't yet paid the fine, you will be required to pay it (plus a penalty) before you can transfer the title/de-register the car. If someone else owns the car, that person will be stuck paying that amount. |

I got busted and paid 70,000 won... don't remember how much over I was. When you get the ticket in the mail, show a colleague/korean friend and they will help you out.
