The "toned" look is a function of bodyfat, not lifting. That is why most strongmen are big but not "toned" (except maybe in the arms and legs). To be "toned" you have to watch your diet. That is what gives the "toned" look. Lifting just makes the muscles bigger. |

the usual gym is closed for renovations a month so i walked up the street and found another after work, no problem. i've bought dumbells and bench and bar but i never ended up using them much because it's just boring without 'other activity' going on around, like in a gym. and knowing that the home weights aren't enough to get bigger. at a gym you're doing your best along with everyone else pushing and pulling so given that, there's a day by day healthy presence set up between you and those you work out alongside, bad mood or good mood, it's all 'real'. all the small stuff just doesn't make it to the fore, for everyone, there to shoulder off the minutia. |
