"Hul!" and "Oh- moh!" are my usual expressions of surprise or amazement. |
"Oh-moh!" is the "mother!" exclamation that girls use when they're shocked or surprised, isn't it? (not sure of your romanisation)

oma would be mother
mo=what, i think the oh carries no meaning in that one |

Technically "mwo" would be 'what'...
If there are 2 different sounds then I'm inclined to go for the "mother" explanation.
Perhaps rapier can clarify |

mo/mwo ... i think "technically you're splitting hairs, i personally don't go for the standard romanisation in a lot of cases it's unneccessary or not even clear ...
but if "oh mo" is really the sound of what they're saying, I guess the only way it could be mother is if it's a shortening for omo ni ... my best guess is still for "what" which makes better sense as a exclamation right? |

But the thing is Koreans DO use the "mother!" ("omma!") exclamation for surprise, where we would use "oh my god" or something similar. Don't think I'm splitting hairs as it seems to be a pretty common occurence.
I hear it around all the time, especially from my missus on the relatively tame Everland rides. |

you can tell i am on holiday and have too much time on my hands to be even posting ... but no ones saying oma doesn't mean mother, and may well be used as an exclamation ... we are trying to figure if oh-moh is used also for mother ... my efficient spelling of that would be omo, but I think we know the sound we're talking about ... can anyone confirm ? |

I used to think that the "omeo/omou/omoh/omo" thing was also saying "mother", but I was told by my inside connection that it doesn't. It's an entirely different word.
What does it really mean? Like I care. |

Holyjoe: wuss here. You're thinking of "oh-mahh" (mother).
Mine sounds more like a shortened, quick "Aw-maw".
One waegooks' Korean is another's double-dutch. |
