I know I posted this up on useful sites ages ago, but I just got around to giving it a spring clean (yup its almost fall!)
I've got over 2000 schools in total now, with 300'ish for Korea
Any views or thoughts?

Loyal: what is this list useful for exactly? Are these schools that are hiring?
or is it just a directory of existing hakwons that may or may not be hiring, with preferences on how you contact them?
Excuse my ignorance, Rapier |

hmmm good question, no ignorance in that question!
Okay how is it useful?
When i first made the site it was a blacklist, that was hmm 3 months ago, the current blacklists i felt were slow to be updated and hard to navigate. (from that time some of the mod have created a new blacklist, but lets not go there).
Now I changed the interface to give more details so to help people looking for a job also, Say you want to work in a particular city or area, thats great look at the list (order it by region) and send a few emails. (so yes it is for people looking for jobs)
Basicly it was designed to solve a few issues,
1) blacklists are hard to navigate, this is not i feel.
2) a nice cental place to find emails if you are looking to go direct for a job in a certain location.
3) Whitelist, it also has good reviews, if people write reviews!
In the future I am thinking hogwons can mange their accounts, so they can keep their details up to date, but will not be allowed to edit user reviews in anyway. This I hope will provide a more balanced white/black list, as the schools will ask their teachers to write reviews which hogwons can show prospective teachers as a kind of proof of quality (lets not go into the people being forced to write reviews, or the fake reviews problem yet!)
Oh did i mention its dynamic? You join the site, and you post the review, you can add a school and it all appears live.
I decided to combine my hobby (computers and cfm) with my job ESL for a new hobby!
Oh my god reading the above I can not be an English teacher! |

SED (Seoul Educational Development Corporation) needs to be displayed with red flags and allusions to their criminal behaviour. |

After YBM/ECC, Wonderland is Korea's largest chain of language institutes with over 100 schools and growing. Just a matter of numbers, I suppose.

Its a hell of a lot easier to find their details on the internet!
If anybody can show me a list of Hogowns in Korean that i could covert i`d add the little hogowns, but I couldn't find anything.
As for blackballing, I`d need something from a teacher at a place to post a review, or for a teacher to join the site and post up a review.
The little Red boxes on the right are ratings for schools, not many people have joined to rate schools. I do not like rating them myself, maybe thats an option for the future. |

Looks like a good site!
I hope you're are not going to mind the work that it takes updating, etc.
The self-add feature looks great.
You certainly need an area where you can ilicit advertising. Make some dough for all of your hard work to defray expenses.
How about creating a partnership with Dave. You can advertise each other's sites.
That site seems like a lot of work and money to me.

lol, i do not think Dave wants to have any partnerships! He does just fine without little old me.
Dave = 30,000 a day!
Me = 450 a week!
I think I will allow schools in the future to have extra features and pay for a membership to help with the hosting costs but we shall see. At the moment i`m just plain old fishin and trying to spread the word.
Thanks for the postive feedback. |
